David McLean

Managing Director

Mr. McLean has advised and participated in transactions totaling +US$650 million in the Franchise, Private Wealth, Venture, Private Equity and M&A universe; he has been principal, advisor and investor for numerous businesses.

Prior to founding Xavier Capital, Mr. McLean was Vice President of DFS Private Wealth/Mandeville Private Client, an award-winning family office and leader in the private equity space. The firm was also heavily active in Public and Private Equities, Venture Capital, Real Estate Development Trusts, Infrastructure and various other alternative investments; both domestically and in emerging markets. Mr. McLean was responsible for managing relationships with the firm’s HNWI clients.

Before joining DFS Private Wealth, Mr. McLean was CEO of FranSys INTL, at the time, one of the largest franchise consulting firms in North America, consulting over 350 mid-large global franchisors, advising on management, expansion, and M&A matters. Mr. McLean also founded and lead Franchising.Org to significant profitability, which he later sold in 2011 to the International Franchise Association (IFA).

After studying economics at Ryerson University, Mr. McLean received his Cycle 1 Executive Development Certificate from McGill University, an intensive condensed MBA program. Mr. McLean also studied Private Equity and Venture Capital at the prestigious Università Bocconi. Mr. McLean is also a Power MBA.

Rajeeve Perera MBA

ADVISOR – Management | M&A

Mr. Perera has over 20 years of professional finance experience ranging from investment banking to financial planning, analysis and governance.

Over the past 15 years he has held numerous leadership positions across multiple industry sectors from big retail (Loblaw, Grand & Toy) to financial services (TD Bank Group, Foresters Financial). 

In addition to Mr. Perera’s strong track record in operational finance he also has experience in vendor management. He is also a part time lecturer at the University Of Toronto School Of Continuing Studies, where he teaches a course on Corporate Finance & Performance Analysis.

Mr. Perera holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Boston University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Finance from the University of Houston.

Colin Joseph MBA

ADVISOR – Management | M&A

Mr Joseph’s professional career spans more than 25 years, with the first 10 years spent in the financial services sector working for the big three financial institutions.

He later decided to move into the corporate retail space and held a number of finance leadership roles while working for the likes of Loblaw and Hudson’s Bay.

Mr. Joseph is a versatile, solution oriented organizational leader and change agent, who helps all kinds of companies become more profitable by utilizing strategic, creative thinking and a deep understanding of different financial models.

He holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Queen’s University/Kingston, ON, as well as, an undergrad, also in business.

Malcolm Shmelinsky

Associate

Mr. Shmelinsky has spent the majority of his career in the accounting and finance sectors. Prior to working with Xavier Capital, he worked as Managing Principal at Tax Recovery & Advisory Services [TR&AS], a government grants and incentives analysis firm.

His focus at XCV is primarily on developing and maintaining key client relationships, while supporting senior partners on transactional activities.

Mr. Shmelinsky holds an Associate of Science degree in accounting and finance from San Diego Mesa College.

Bader Chowdry CPA, CA, LPA

Independent Tax Advisor

Bader is responsible for overseeing the financial analysis, optimization, auditing, valuation, tax and due diligence aspects for the firm.

Previously Bader held senior accountant positions with KPMG and Sloan Partners. He holds the CPA, CA and LPA designations and a Bachelor of Business (Major in Accounting) from the University of Guelph – Humber.
